Our latest project at Amber Valley took us to the heart of this beautiful retirement community, where the task at hand was to breathe new life into these weathered driveways. The concrete driveways, which used to be bright and inviting, had turned black over time.
Our main aim was to make the driveway look good again and ensure it was safe and nice for the residents to use. This case study will show the careful steps we took to bring back the driveway’s original look and function.
Pressure Washing Concrete Driveway
When we set out to clean the driveway and courtyard at Amber Valley in Howick, we were really careful and thorough to get the best results. Here’s what we did:
- First, we used a mild chemical detergent on the concrete: We began by putting a gentle detergent on the concrete to help loosen up all the dirt and mould that had built up. We picked this detergent specifically because it was strong enough to tackle the dirt but wouldn’t damage the concrete or hurt the environment around it.
- Next, we cleaned the edges with high pressure: Once the detergent had done its job, we started pressure washing the edges of the driveway. This was important to make sure we got a neat and tidy edge, which helped define the area clearly and made sure we didn’t miss any spots during the main clean.
- Then we cleaned the main area with special equipment: After setting up the boundaries, we used a special attachment on our pressure washer, called a surface cleaner, to clean the main part of the concrete. This tool helped us clean evenly and thoroughly, getting rid of all the loosened dirt and mould.
- Finally, we rinsed everything off: After cleaning everything, we rinsed the area well to get rid of any leftover detergent and dirt. We also washed the nearby walls and garage door to make sure there was no splashback left from our cleaning. This made the whole area look fresh and clean again.

Estate Elegance Restored with Pressure Washing
Wrapping up our time at Amber Valley Retirement Village in Howick, I’ve got to say, the pressure washing gig we did there turned out amazing. The driveways and courtyards we tackled went from looking pretty worn to absolutely shining, and it felt great to see such a stellar change.
It’s these kinds of jobs that remind me why I love doing what I do. We’re all about making places look good and folks feel good about where they live. And I’m all in for wherever the next pressure washing adventure takes us, hoping to spread that clean-and-happy vibe even further.
What’s even cooler is that our work seemed to catch the eye of the folks living next door. They saw what we did and liked it so much that they asked us to sort out their driveway too. It’s kind of nice to see that our hard work doesn’t just clean up a place but also gets the neighbors talking and wanting the same for their space.
